In the Slovenian mountains there are many waterfalls, which freeze completely during winter and are suitable for winter ice climbing.
We offer professional guiding, for all levels, to waterfalls in the Julian Alps (the Slovenian and Italian part) and the Kamnik Alps (Slovenia). Climbs will be planned and coordinated based on your skills and experience as well as the current weather and snow/ice conditions. Ice climbing in the Tamar valley
The lovely Tamar valley is located in Planica, just above one of the biggest and most famous ski jumps in the world. The Tamar valley has many easily accessible natural frozen water falls, which offer easy ice climbing for beginners and some challenges for more experienced climbers. As such it is a well known location for great ice climbing.

Ice climbing in Mt. Prisank
Above Slovenia's highest vehicle accessible mountain pass Vršič, Mt. Prisank offers a number of summer and winter activities. There is also a well known legend about a mountain girl “Ajdovska deklica”, who was petrified in the valley below the mountain. You can see her face on the north side of the mountain. In the winter, a huge amphitheatre of frozen waterfalls forms below her. These water falls offer some of the best ice climbing in the Julian Alps.

Ice climbing course for beginners
This course is suitable for anyone who wants to experience the beauty and challenge of ice climbing. Some climbing experience (rock or ice) is useful, but not necessary, since the course is designed for beginners. On this three day course, we will learn ice climbing techniques, rope management, and safety systems for ice climbing. We will also climb natural ice falls across the Julian Alps.
